IACC meetings during their Rome visit
Meetings the following day included Minister of Economic Development, Infrastructure and Transportation, Corrado Passera and Giulio Terzi, Minister of Foreign Affairs. Minister Terzi was previously the Ambassador of Italy to the United States until being called by the Monti government for this new position. As Ambassador in the USA (UN and Washington D.C.) for several years, he became and has remained a strong friend of the United States.
The audience with Pope Benedict was described by the majority of the delegation as the highlight of their trip.
The final evening of the Italy America Chamber of Commerce’s Italian visit was hosted by the President of the Fondazione Roma, Prof. Emmanuele F.M. Emanuele at the historic Palazzo Sciarra. Following Minister Fini and Minister Terzi, Prof. Emanuele was the final Chamber award recipient for Business & Culture presented during their Rome visit.
A magnificent private visit to the current art exhibition at the Palazzo “Sculture dalle Collezioni Santarelli e Zeri” was followed by a buffet aperitivo. Many notable guests from the Roman community also attended including Prince Ruspoli, Judge Giorgio Santa Croce, Ex-Minister Marzano, Cardinal Re and the American Embassy’s Cultural Affairs Officer, Emilia Puma, who reiterated the fine work which the Fondazione is doing in their many varied initiatives.
