ILICA Board Members in the NEWS
Board member Chris Nicodemo was joined in matrimony with longtime girlfriend Diana Lee at Chateau La Mer in Lindenhurst Long Island, on May 26th, 2012. They hosted over 150 friends and relatives, including Diana’s parents who flew in for this joyous event from Taiwan, which featured a mix of both American and Chinese traditions. Chris and Diana are co-founders of www.ASIANinNY.com a comprehensive networking site targeting young Asian business people living in the tri-state area.
They have also worked with ILICA on several cultural initiatives by presenting artists and musicians from their community, as well as applicants for the UNISTRASI (University of Siena for Foreigners) scholarships. Alice Moy, our UNISTRASI 2011 winner, discovered ILICA thanks to their website. Here’s wishing the Nicodemos much happiness now and in the future!
Chef Andrea Tiberi Takes on ROME…
Andrea Tiberi, ILICA’s in-house chef, has been summoned to Rome, Italy for a challenging 6 month project – the creation of a state-of-the-arts restaurant kitchen and culinary laboratory at the new Il Cantico hotel, located in the Vatican City.
Tiberi’s professional skills do not go unnoticed in this very contemporary and well planned dining complex. The kitchen, visible from the dining space, is separated by a glass wall, allowing the diners to watch the magic of Italian cooking as they eat. An innovative interactive communications system will keep the chefs in direct contact with their servers. Also visible is a separate laboratory for making fresh pasta daily, as well as an ice cream laboratory for creating Italy’s famed gelati. Not to be missed is the rooftop bar and grill overlooking St. Peter’s dome.
The Franciscan monks, who own this property, have also designated a large area for an herb garden, as well as an orchard, to ensure that only the freshest ingredients are used in their food preparation.
Once the restaurant is up and running, Tiberi will be returning stateside just in time for ILICA’s 8th annual Gala dinner, on October 26th, 2012.
