Terroni (from terra, or land) = term used by northern italians to refer to southerners in a pejorative way by emphasizing their social status as peasant or red neck.
Polentoni (from polenta, or cornmeal porridge) = term used by southern Italians to describe their northern fellows as stubborn, slow-minded polenta-eaters.
